Research Data Metadata: Various Standards

It’s evident from work on the project that there are a number of emerging standards for research data metadata.

The work done on C4D so far has looked at metadata requirements, researching standards already out there, and coming up with a proposed metadata set for datasets.

Two new registries have recently been launched, RE3data.org (Registry of Research Data Repositories) and the Data Citation Index (DCI), both of which aim to provide a “single point of access” to quality research data from repositories across disciplines and around the world.

I have drawn a comparison between these registries and the work done on CERIFying datasets, and it would be useful to align these further in order that a comprehensive set of generic metadata elements can be devised and CERIFied.

I have attached a mapping between RE3data and DCI elements, together with the proposed initial CERIF implementation. I have also attached further information on DCI and RE3Data for reference.

Any comments or queries welcome!
